On 6 April, 1936, Holly Andy Pederson was born in Arlington SD to Andy Holly Pederson & Myrtle (Piehle). While attending Salem (SD) high school, Holly was involved in many sports including basketball, 6-man football, and was the Mental Giant (Valedictorian) for the class of 1954 (enormous class size of fifteen). His illustrious earnings career began with candling eggs and manually setting up bowling pins.
In 1958 Holly graduated from Augustana College with a degree in accounting, and an MBA from the University of SD in 1960. On July 30 of that same year, Holly married the love of his life, Synnove Jensen, and the couple were wed at Canton Lutheran Church. In 1963, Holly passed the CPA exam and was awarded SD certificate #59. Soon after, he completed all the coursework for a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Holly played a vital role in minimizing the wild game population in Clay County. The dinner table was always stocked with deer, pheasant, and sasquatch. In the 70’s, Holly trained his boys how to identify the business end of a firearm, and its safe usage.
Many excellent vacations were provided by the USAF including Norway and Panama. His role as the SD Liaison Officer to the Air Force Academy often found him traveling to/from Colorado Springs.
Holly was involved with many organizations including the Lions Club, Trinity Lutheran Church, and was an active member of the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother-Richard, and a son-Paul.
A celebration of life service is pending. Memorials may be directed to Canton Lutheran Church.
