          Marlys Mae Anderson, age 86, died Monday, October 14, 2024 surrounded by her family at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Lands Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, SD.  Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.  A private family burial will be held prior to the service.

         Marlys Mae Borman entered into this world on November 28, 1937 with the aid of her grandmother, Mae E. Inglett. She joined her parents, Harold and Violet (Inglett) Borman and big brother, Don.  Due to the hard times, the family moved in with Harold’s mother and father on the Borman family farm, which lacked electricity and indoor plumbing.  She attended school in Rock Rapids, graduating from Rock Rapids High School in 1955.   She then studied accounting in Sioux Falls, SD.

          Marlys married Neal Carter Anderson on November 28, 1970 in Rock Rapids, IA.  The couple made their home in rural Beresford where they raised their two children, Brian and Kay.

          When she was not raising her family or helping on the farm, she worked for a financial firm for many years and a law firm for 11 years.  Marlys loved to read, fish, watch college baseball, grow flowers, and test her luck at the casino.  She also cherished time spent with her family, especially her 3 grandchildren.  She was a longtime member of Lands Lutheran Church.

Grateful for sharing her life are her husband of 53 years, Carter; son, Brian (Stephanie) Anderson; daughter, Kay (Tom) Kessler; grandchildren, Brendan, Brogan and Lindsay Anderson; brother, Darold (Laura) Borman; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Don Borman.
