Eileen (Stroschein) Schmidt, 97, passed away September 30, 2024 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas. Memorial services are pending.

Eileen was born Aug. 6, 1927 at Freeman, SD. She graduated from Freeman High School in 1945. She married Rueben Schmidt in 1947 and three children were born of this marriage Jim, Kathryn, and Cynthia.

Eileen grew up on a farm near Freeman. Rueben & Eileen farmed until 1975 when they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. She retired from JC Penney in 1995. Shortly thereafter the couple spent winters at Mission, Texas enjoying the mild climate and the many activities available to them. After Rueben’s death in 2000, Eileen relocated to Mission, Texas permanently.

Survivors are her son Jim Schmidt of Canton, sister Joyce Lehmann of Freeman, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, son-in-law Allen Adrian of Sioux Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
