Service: Memorial services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024 at Lands Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, SD. 

          Marlys Rae Twedt, age 84, passed away peacefully and is now Home with the Lord on Monday, August 19, 2024 surrounded by her family at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.  Memorial services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024 at Lands Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, SD.  Visitation will be held from 1 – 2:30 p.m. at Lands Lutheran Church.

          Marlys was born on February 27, 1940 in Park Rapids, MN to Paul and Zita “Edna” (Barry) Larson.   She attended school in Hudson, SD before graduating from Canton High School in 1958.  She later earned an LPN degree from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA.

          Marlys married Roger Twedt on June 14, 1958.  Rhonda, Paul, Victoria, Rochelle, and Joe were born to this union.  In addition to being a mother and farm wife, Marlys worked as an LPN at the Hudson and Alcester nursing homes.

          Marlys enjoyed bowling, golf, crocheting, knitting, sewing, quilting, and reading.  She loved spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s activities.  She was also a long-time member of Lands Lutheran Church where she participated in Bible Study, Circle, and served faithfully as church custodian for many years.

          Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Rhonda (Tom) VonEye, Paul (Lola) Twedt, Victoria Oberman, Rochelle (Richard) Dale, and Joe (Jodi) Twedt; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with 4 more on the way; brother, Ron (Angie) Larson; sisters, Barb McPherson and Linda (Richard) Westergren; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger in 2017; son-in-law, Stephen Oberman; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Richard) Peterson.
