Charles “Chuck” Mullinix, age 75, died Monday, October 23, 2023 at Sanford Canton-Inwood Hospital. A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD. Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.
Chuck was born on October 29, 1947 in Beloit, IA to John and Helen (Dose) Mullinix. He attended grade school in Beloit, IA and high school in Canton, SD. He obtained his GED while proudly serving his country in the US Army. After serving two tours in Vietnam, he returned to Canton and married Lois Crawford on August 4, 1969. The couple made their home in the Black Hills. In 1975, he joined the US Navy and again proudly served his country until his retirement in 1992. After his discharge, his family moved back to Canton.
Through the years, Chuck worked for the elevator in Canton, for Peterson Farms, and drove truck for Steve Beck until his health began to fail. He enjoyed listening to Bob Seger music, having coffee at the VFW in Sioux Falls, watching Judge Judy and Gun Smoke, and, in his younger years, sipping on a cold Budweiser. Family was the most important thing in Chuck’s life and he cherished spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 54 years, Lois; son, Shane Mullinix (Tiffany Kreun); daughter, Lynn (Travis) Waite; grandchildren, Austin (Abbi) Waite, Elena Waite (Junior Lopez), Callie Waite, and Wyatt Mullinix; along with numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Mullinix and Larry Mullinix; half-brother, Roger Morris, and half-sister, Beverly Aulner. www.andersonandsonsfh.com
