Beverly “Bev” Sievers, age 94, died Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. A Celebration of Bev’s Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, at Anderson Funeral Home, Canton, SD. Family will greet visitors on hour prior to the service.
Beverly Ann Mitchell was born on November 19, 1928 in Winfred, SD to John and Annie (Eller) Mitchell. Bev was number 10 of 11 children. Her mom passed away when she was 2 years old. She was raised mostly by her older siblings. Bev worked at the Madison Café for 2 years. After that, at age 17, she moved to Minnesota and worked as a hired hand for her sister and family for 13 years.
She then moved to Canton, SD where she worked at the A & R Grocery store for 24 years. She married Peter Boscaljon on May 3, 1963. Pete passed away in August of 1977.
In 1982 Bev met Chuck Sievers. She moved to Sioux Falls and married Chuck in 1983. Bev then worked at K-Mart for 19 years followed by 5 years in the Hy-Vee bakery. She retired at the age of 72.
Bev was full of mischief and loved playing pranks on people. She loved the outdoors, especially watching sunsets. She once saw an airplane make a cross in the sky. She claimed she saw “the finger of God” that day. She loved rollerblading, riding her bike, hiking, walking her dog, and feeding the squirrels. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors in her later years. She played Yahtzee any chance she got and also enjoyed listening to country music.
She loved her church and her church family. Her favorite bible verse was Psalm 121: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
She was preceded in death by 9 siblings and her husbands, Pete and Chuck. She is survived by her sister, Lorene Kidder of Colorado, sister-in-law, Jean Mitchell of Minnesota; along with several nieces and nephews.
Bev requests memorials be given to Emmanuel Baptist Church or the Sioux Falls Humane Society. www.andersonandsonsfh.com
Leroy and I worshipped at EBC with Bev. We enjoyed those closer to the back pews and greeting on Sunday morning. One could not know what direction a conversation with Bev would take. What a joy it was to know her.
We have so many fun memories of time spent with Bev through the years! We shared many laughs sitting out in our driveways trying to solve the world’s problems! Bev was like a grandmother to our kids and grandkids. We will all miss her terribly. God Bless You Bev!🙏🏻❤️🌹

Have shared many family celebrations and dinners with Bev over the years. She was always full of life and laughter. Now she is sharing all the wonders of Heaven with her loved ones—and with our Lord Jesus, face to face. What a wondrous place to be! God bless and be with all who are left behind to carry on…….
We are saddened to hear of Bev’s passing, we always enjoyed her quick wit and just visiting with her before service on Sunday morning. Richard Rose and Shelly Stutson.
I would like to extend my sympathy to Bev’s family and friends. We met at church and would visit at Fellowship time after the service finding that we felt the same about the many changes we had seen and experienced over the years. Then when COVID came into our lives we began having our weekly conversations over the phone on Saturday afternoons sharing so much. Her faith was strong, and she wanted to stay in her home, but also, she expressed to me that she was ready to move on to her Heavenly Home. We visited last on January 21st, and she told me that she wasn’t doing very well so I was concerned about her. Am missing her but have good memories and am fortunate to have had her for a special Christian friend. Know that she is now free from all earthly physical problems and with our Heavenly Father.
