Joyce Paulson, age 88, died on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Lands Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, SD. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., family present from 6-8p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.
Joyce was born on February 19, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN to Louie and Gena (Anderson) Adamson. They moved to her grandmother’s farm outside of Renner, SD in the early 1930’s. She attended the local school and was active in her church. She graduated from Augustana Academy in 1947.
Joyce graduated from the Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She married her high school sweetheart, Allen Paulson, on October 20, 1950. After Allen’s Army service during the Korean War, they owned and operated the Norway Center Store in rural Lincoln County until the early 1960’s, when they moved to Canton. She loved nursing and worked at several hospitals during her life and was the Director of Nursing at the Canton Good Samaritan Center until she retired.
Joyce was a woman of great humor, joy, and kindness. She kept busy with rosemaling, reading, card club, Bible study, and many other activities. Her faith was deep and she passed it on to her family. She treasured her family and friends and knew that she would be with the Lord in Heaven.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Julie Paulson, Sioux Falls; her three sons, Dr. Brad Paulson and his wife, Lisa, Sioux Falls, Michael Paulson and his wife, Dawn, Lawrence, KS, and David Paulson and his wife, Dr. Nicole Grossenburg, Sioux Falls; her eight grandchildren, Dr. Dan Paulson and his wife Meridith, Cleveland, OH, Dr. Nate Paulson and his wife Arin, Charlottesville, VA, Kara Paulson, Lawrence, KS, Scott Paulson, Sioux Falls, Haley Paulson, Columbia, MO, Alex Paulson and his wife Rachel, Topeka, KS, Lily Paulson, Sioux Falls, and Ava Paulson, Sioux Falls; her great-granddaughter, Kensington Paulson, Topeka, KS and many friends. She was preceded in death by Allen, her husband of 60 years and her parents. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Julie – I’m so sorry for your loss; I have wonderful memories of Joyce on our birthday and in the times I spent at your house. Mom enjoyed working with her for many years at Canton-Inwood Hospital. May your memories comfort you and your family.
